Energy saving for heating and cooling systems.
For a housing company (residential property), heating energy is usually the largest single cost. In industry, cooling capacity determines whether the process keeps running. When the water or heat transfer fluid in the network becomes dirty, the system has to work harder to achieve the same result.
VesiTekno helps properties and industry reduce energy costs and extend the service life of their systems. We restore the performance of heating and cooling networks with professional cleaning, flushing and optimisation services. We have almost 30 years of experience and more than 1,500 completed projects.

How can you tell that a system is wasting energy?
Heating and cooling systems often waste energy long before an actual fault is detected. Impurities, air, sediment and limescale deposits impair heat transfer and force the system to run at a higher output than normal.
| Heating system | Cooling system | |
| Typical signs | The heating network gives off heat poorly, radiators perform poorly, room temperatures are uneven | Insufficient cooling capacity, chilled beams perform poorly, the condition of the glycol or other heat transfer fluid has not been checked for a long time |
| Most common cause | Dirt, sediment and magnetite accumulated in the network | Impurities accumulated in the network and aged heat transfer fluid |
| Consequences | Energy consumption rises and indoor conditions deteriorate | Energy consumption rises, equipment is put under strain and process reliability declines |
| Solution | Cleaning the network with Ecoboost cleaning solution, flushing and, if needed, installing a filter | Cleaning and flushing the network, replacing the fluid and thorough venting |
Signs that apply to both systems
- Increased energy consumption with no clear reason
- Air problems and flow noise in the network
- Recurring alarms, fault notifications or pump problems
- Dirty strainers, filters and heat exchangers
- Sludge, limescale or iron sediment accumulated in the network
The longer impurities are allowed to build up, the higher energy costs rise and the more expensive repairs become. VesiTekno assesses the condition of the system, cleans the network and optimises its operation. The result is a more energy-efficient, more reliable and longer-lasting system.
Dirt, sludge and air in the network: how we remove them
Reduced output and rising energy consumption often have the same cause: a dirty network or aged fluid. This is how we resolve the two most common situations.
Filtration keeps the network clean
To clean heating and cooling networks, we use, for example:
- Heifi-Top air and dirt separators, which continuously remove air and impurities from the system
- Ferroclean magnetic filters, which efficiently capture iron sediment and magnetite.
How does cleaning benefit the customer?
A clean, properly functioning network shows both in the energy bill and in everyday operation:
- better heating and cooling performance
- lower energy consumption
- more even conditions in the property
- fewer malfunctions and repairs
- a longer service life for the system.
This is how VesiTekno helps restore the energy efficiency and reliability of networks for the long term.
Heat transfer fluid affects energy consumption
Heat transfer fluid carries heat and cold through the network and protects the system against freezing and corrosion. When the fluid ages or becomes dirty, heat transfer weakens and the system consumes more energy to achieve the same result.
A correctly selected fluid in good condition keeps energy consumption under control and extends the service life of the system. VesiTekno manufactures and supplies heat transfer fluids for property and industrial applications and monitors their condition.
How we look after the fluid
We check the concentration, freezing point, pH value and general condition of the heat transfer fluid. If necessary, samples are analysed at MetropoliLab’s accredited laboratory. Based on the results, we carry out the necessary work:
- cleaning and flushing the system
- replacing the glycol or heat transfer fluid
- filling and topping up
- venting and commissioning
- ongoing servicing and maintenance.
Our range includes ethylene and propylene glycols, ECO FROST®, Naturet® ethanol solutions, GEO Frost® fluids for geothermal boreholes, and brines for ice rinks and tracks.

How the service works
Condition inspection
We assess the current condition of the system and the fluid.
Analysis
Water and fluid samples are tested in a laboratory.
Actions
Cleaning, flushing, fluid replacement, filling and venting, plus filter installation where needed.
Optimisation
We adjust the system to run correctly with the lowest possible energy consumption.
Ongoing maintenance
We agree a service interval so that the results last.
Who is the service for?
We serve housing companies, property maintenance companies, construction companies and private individuals, as well as demanding industrial sites. These include data centres, the paper and food industries, the process industry, indoor and outdoor ice rinks, and freezing plants.

The Amazonia house at Korkeasaari
In the Amazonia house at Korkeasaari, the wellbeing of animals that need tropical conditions depends on properly functioning water and heating systems. VesiTekno cleaned and upgraded the building’s water networks and looks after their servicing and maintenance. The aim was to improve the energy efficiency of the systems.
What does energy saving mean in practice?
In apartment building heating, energy savings of up to 4–7% have been achieved. The savings do not show only in the energy bill. A clean, correctly adjusted system also brings:
Lower energy costs
Fewer malfunctions and repairs
A longer service life for the system
Lower energy costs
